Well, we have returned from Mexico a little tanner, a little happier, and a little fuller. We stayed in a small fishing village about 20 minutes south of Cancun called Puerto Morelos. We also visited Tulum, which is a must. I think I am officially obsessed with Mexico. In just under four hours, you can fly direct to Cancun and have a vacation filled with beach time, cultural explorations, and spicy, colorful cuisine. The teal waters and powdery sand, the people, the sights, and the food were all so vivid and vibrant.
Our meals consisted of the obligatory guacamole order followed by dishes like fresh fish tacos delicately placed upon homemade tortillas, crispy beef fajitas, or this amazing chipotle shrimp and gooey cheese baked in a tortilla. In addition to the Mexican fare, we also had delicious meals at a local Argentinean and Indian restaurant. I was quite impressed with the diversity of food choices.
