L'Atelier du Chocolat

Even though it's technically spring, I'm still feeling the winter chill. On a recent walk in downtown Jersey City, I reacquainted with L'Atelier du Chocolat, an inviting French patisserie and chocolate shop by Eric Girerd. Tucked behind Grove Point is this little boutique gem.  Start with a chocolat chaud and try one of their famed croissant or pastries.  

I chose the almond croissant, which was brimming with a sweetened almond filling and surrounded by a perfectly buttery and flakey pastry.

I also enjoyed selecting a few of their artisan chocolates, which are handmade on site. They make lovely hostess gifts as well.

So next time you're craving a little bit of Paris, just meander downtown for some petit bonbons.
