Ham & Cheese Croissants = Heaven in NYC & DC

Ham & Cheese Croissants = Heaven in NYC & DC

I think I'm having a love affair with croissants, especially stuffed with ham and cheese. Will took me to Rex, a coffee shop near his office in the West 50s. The ham and cheese was so decadent as a morning treat. I am thankful that my office is nearly three miles away. The croissant had a buttery, puffy filling, and a crisp and flakey crust. The salty sharp cheese and smoky ham made this puffball of goodness even more filling.

While in D.C. this weekend, we visited our favorite gelato and sweet shop Dolcezza in Dupont Circle. Much to my chagrin, they also had a ham and cheese croissant, but their version was served hot and incorporated a bechamel sauce. It was like a fancy croque madame. Mon dieu.  After gobbling that down alongside a latte with foam art, I was happy on cloud nine.

And now ham and cheese croissants and I need to part ways for a few weeks before our trip to Mexico. But please do share if you know of any good spots with croissants in NYC; I'll have to return post bathing suit season.
