I love summer. I love pizza. And wine. What a perfect combination, right? And so simple. Wow your guests or your family with an easy summer pizza while sipping on vino.
1 pizza dough
1/2 cup vodka sauce (we used a jarred variety)
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved and sprinkled with salt
1 small ball of fresh mozzarella thinly sliced
handful fresh basil
Pre heat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly oil a pizza stone. Bring pizza dough to room temperature and gently stretch over the stone. Spoon vodka sauce onto the dough, leaving room for the crust. Scatter the mozzarella and top with cherry tomatoes. Bake for 20 minutes, checking to see if the crust is lightly browning and the cheese is melting. Sprinkle with fresh basil or add a dollop of pesto.
We paired our pizza with a medium-bodied Aglianico Italian red and a mixed green salad with balsamic dressing. It was heaven. Enjoy!
