Middle Eastern Turkey Burgers

photo (1).JPG

Now that spring is here, it's time to get the grill started. Turkey burgers are a wonderful and nutritious meal that are easy to concoct. Below is a recipe inspired by Middle Eastern flair.

Middle Eastern Turkey Burgers
Serves four

1 pound of turkey meat
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of fresh mint, chopped
2 tablespoons of fresh basil, chopped
2 scallions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon of Aleppo pepper
salt
pepper
Tzatziki for dipping sauce
Feta or cheddar cheese to melt on burgers

Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and thoroughly mix together. Form patties and let refrigerate for an hour.

If grilling, heat grill to medium high and grill the patties four-to-five minutes per side until desired doneness.

If roasting, preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place turkey burgers on roasting sheet and cook for eight to 10 minutes on each side. Once they're cooked through, change the oven setting to broil, add preference of cheese, and cook until melted.

These burgers go great along side a yogurt cucumber dip like tzatkiki and some fresh vegetables.
