Restaurant Review: Return to Grand Sichuan in Jersey City, NJ

Jersey City is pretty up-and-coming with charming boutiques,  interesting storefronts, and a bevy of ethnic restaurants. On a recent sojourn to visit my Uncle Alan, we decided to stop by one of our favorite go-tos in the hood; Grand Sichuan. And it was better than I remembered.

We started off with a sauteed Spinach with Ginger that was quite flavorful with a salty and gingery kick.
We also loved the Salt and Pepper Shrimp; large, plump shrimp lightly tossed with a sweet and peppery sauce with a side of al dente cooked broccoli florets. The sauce was a tad sweet, but fit the bill if you are looking for a more American-Chinese experience.

Lastly, we needed a wild card, so we went with the Cumin Lamb. I don't know about you, but I rarely see lamb on Chinese restaurant menus. The lamb arrived in thin, crispy strips reminiscent of  gyro meat. The lamb was tender, lean, crispy, salty, and tasty. Two steam buns also accompanied the dish; make sure to order more.

This is probably my favorite Sichuan restaurant in the tri-state area. Oh, and did I mention that this restaurant is also BYO? Even better!
